Description	The AARP Driver Safety Program is an 8-hour classroom refresher that can help learn the effects of aging on driving and how you can adjust your driving. 55 Alive teaches defensive driving techniques, provides information on age-related cognitive and physical changes that affect driving, and how to adjust driving in response to those changes. The AARP Driver Safety Program "55 Alive" was created in 1979, recongnizing the need for an older driver training program and not just those 16 and over. As opposed to younger drivers, whose typical violations include speeding, reckless driving and DUI offenses, older drivers' typical violations include failure to yield right-of-way, improper turning, and incorrect lane changing. Generally, older drivers have problems in driving situations that require quick response, full vision, and interaction with other drivers.
